HOSTS: Kaitlin Coghill (Birth + Postpartum Doula/Mentor) and Rebekha Wolf (Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master)
DATES: May 26, June 2, June 9
TIME: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
ABOUT: The overall intention of the Flow is to explore a variety of ways that we can bring mindfulness and community-care into our daily routines as mothers. We unite in positivity and truth, modeling for our children what it actually means to care for both ourselves and others. There will be nourishing food and tea provided at each gathering; simply bring yourselves and your sweet babies (if you’d like) to be shrouded in love and support by all in attendance.
Built into the foundation of each session is an understanding that as humans we are animals. We are wild at heart and completely intertwined with nature itself. When we view motherhood through a lens of nature’s cycles and processes, we are able to move past the limiting view of motherhood as something to conquer and make perfect, a mindset that serves no one. Thus we acknowledge that in taking care of ourselves, other mothers and all babies/children, we are taking care of the earth itself. The ways we do this are through movement, stillness and centering.
This series, though focusing on the first year of motherhood, is for all mothers to attend no matter the ages of their children. We welcome your wisdom and insight, and respect that not everyone was able to fully immerse themselves in their immediate postpartum experience. Consider this an opportunity to begin anew.
MAY 26: BODY
This first gathering will focus on our bodily well-being. How do you feel in your body? How have you thanked your body? How does it feel for your body to be shared with another body multiple times per day? We will dive into these topics and more as we meditate on the value of movement, honoring physical sensations and the importance of taking care of our bodies (and our baby’s bodies) from the inside out.
JUNE 2: MIND
This second gathering will focus on the wellness of your mind and mental health. What is your level of underlying calm? How do you implement mindfulness into your everyday actions? How does mindfulness help in bonding with your baby? How can you nourish your mind while continuing to care for another? These are a few of the paths we will aim to follow as we share with one another the ways we stay (mostly) sane in the throes of rebirth and motherhood.
JUNE 9: SPIRIT
Our third and final gathering will focus on the wellness of YOU; the “you” that you are deep down in your center; the “you” that is made up of your emotions, experiences and intuitive knowing. How can you change the parts of your day that don’t bring you joy? How can you honor the more negatively viewed emotions that you feel? How does your spirit relate to your baby’s spirit? How has your spirit evolved since giving birth? Together we will explore these questions alongside the power of setting intentions and choosing your reality. We will remind ourselves that we are not victims of our motherhood experience, rather, we are in charge of it completely, and we are fully able to embrace our spirits as a vital part of our existence on this earth.
